FOR BRIDES AND GROOMS
Our team is actually divided on this one! Samantha and Scott shoot Nikon, Magna shoots Canon. Although we don’t believe equipment makes the image, we do believe in offering our clients the best quality images available and because of that, we invest in some of the best camera bodies and lenses in the industry. The main reason we invest in great camera bodies: ability to kill it in low lighting which is KEY for weddings!
Something so visual can hardly be put into words, so we would love it if you browsed our gallery to better understand our style. However, we are often described as having a very fun and easy going approach while creating images of beautiful, vintage, warm glowy quality. We often try our best to replicate the look of film photography because it is so lovely and soft.
We do! We love travelling and some of our favourite weddings have involved some considerable travel. For local Ontario travel, we charge $30/hour from where we live but we only charge one way! If the travel is more than a couple hours, we may require hotel accommodations which is something we can talk about with you. We are happy to stay where guests are staying – whether it be at a lodge, hotel, college, etc. If the travel involves leaving the country, we require airfare and hotel accommodations be covered. We have photographed weddings in PEI, New York, Pennsylvania, Cuba, Dominican, Mexico, and Jamaica and are always wanting to add to that list! We especially hope to shoot in California, Newfoundland, Alberta, South Carolina, Europe, and Costa Rica and are willing to work out amazing deals to shoot in these places. Email us and we can discuss further details to suit your event!
We are mostly using our digital bodies. However, a few rolls of film on a Canon AE-1 and a stack of Instax polaroids are also available for your wedding. If you love those mediums too, let’s chat and make it happen!
How many photos will we get?
For a full day wedding (getting ready to dancing) you will receive a minimum of 700 digital edited images either via USB or an on-line gallery for download. These come full resolution, no watermark, and ready to be printed, safely archived, and proudly displayed!
Who holds the copyright to our images?
Quite simply – I do. But don’t let that scare you. That’s just Canadian law. Our contract discusses this in length to make sure your interests are protected. I also grant you personal usage rights to share and print your images. Basically, the only no-no would be for you to share my images and make a profit off them, especially without consulting me first to gain any special permission to do so.
When will we get our photos?
It depends on the time of year, but the average wait is around 10-12 weeks from your date, and the longest you will ever have to wait is 14 weeks.
Do you have insurance?
Sure do. We want to make sure you feel safe putting your trust in us!
Do you have backup gear?
We do. However, with two to three photographers available at any part of the day, this dramatically reduces the need to worry about gear failures or malfunctions.
Do you photograph commercially for businesses?
Yes! We love working with businesses to build the most impressive brand and promotional tools possible. We are honoured to contribute to your success! We have currently worked for BDO Dunwoody, Trans Canada Trail, Market Buffet and Grill, Ted Handy Architects, Simcoe’s Good Life Magazine, and many others. We have a particular passion for helping other businesses…so please get in touch. We would love to work for you!
Are you okay with your photographs being used commercially for ads and billboards?
Yes! Our commercial rate includes granting commercial usage rights for businesses to promote themselves using our images! That’s what they were taken for, and we are happy to see our work featured around town and in print. It’s a great feeling!
Do you have your own lighting set up and equipment to capture our headshots and our business’ interior/exterior shots?
Yes we do. We try to keep headshots natural and fun for your staff, and for this reason we tend to prefer doing creative on-location headshots whenever possible, but we also offer solid backdrop headshots with portable lighting because sometimes this works best for your company’s look. Please email us email@example.com for your headshot booking!
FOR PHOTOGRAPHERS IN TRAINING
Do you offer one-on-one mentoring sessions for aspiring photographers?
Absolutely! One of my joys is teaching and I am always up for passing on what I know. I currently have a full-time co-op student and in the past have done a lot of one-on-one mentoring as well as ran a photography club for teenage girls for 4 years. If you want to book a mentoring session, please shoot me an email!
Do you do interviews for student research assignments?
Of course. I have answered quite a few of these inquiries and the answer is always yes! I have done interviews with students from highschool and college and am happy to answer any questions you may have.
Do you hire students for second shooting?
I don’t currently have any payed positions that need to be filled, but am always on the lookout. My expectations in this area are very high as we want to find people to work with us who will represent our business well and contribute to making sure our clients feel at ease. For this reason, we are very selective about who we let come to shoots with us but we are always interested in meeting with potential shooters to see their work and most importantly, hear more about them and how they would fit into our team.
